Egypt’s Para Athletics national team grabs four medals at the Dubai 2024 Grand Prix (Fazza International Para Athletics Championship)
Karim Abdel Tawab collected the gold medal in the 100 m. running in the T44 category achieving a time of 11.76 seconds, which is a new personal record. Teammate Abdel Rahman Shabib added the second gold for Egypt the gold in long jump F46 category with 6.98m. which is also a new personal best.
Yesterday, Abdel Tawab also won the bronze medal in the 200m. sprint race in the T44 category, achieving a time of 23.63 seconds, which is a new personal record as well.
In addition to that, Gomaa Mohamed Abdel Hamid snatched the silver medal in the discus throw race in the F56 category, achieving a time of 38.32, which is a new personal record while Ibrahim Badr Muhammad ranked fourth in the F56 discus throw competition.
Commenting on the triumphs, Ehab Hassanein, EPC board member and head of the delegation,” I thank all the athletes for what they have achieved. We have just started and we will add more medals in the coming days. Our athletes are very well-prepared and they are doing their best to be able to qualify to Paris 2024 Paralympics.”
Hassanein also thanked the Egyptian Consul in Dubai who was with the Egyptian delegation all the time and was supporting them during their races.
The Egyptian Para Athletics national team comprises of Karim Abdel Tawab, Mohamed Ramadan, Ibrahim Badr Mohamed, Mustafa Fathallah, Gomaa Abdel Hamid, Abdel Rahman Shabib, Shaima Sami and Maha Shaaban.
The technical and administrative staff includes Mohamed Eissa, as technical manager, Ahmed Nasr, jump and sprint coach, Ahmed Khairy, Javelin Throw coach and Mahmoud Al-Attar as an administrator.
