A delegation from the Egyptian Para Badminton national team is leaving for Thailand to participate in the World Championship, scheduled to take place from February 19th to 25th.
The Egyptian national team includes Shaimaa Sami, Yassmina Issa, Atef Abdel Karim, Mohamed Hassan, and Tarek Abbas, in addition to coach Nasr El-Sayed.
Shihab Yahya, a member of the Egyptian Badminton Federation’s board of directors and the deputy chairman of the Arab Federation and the Mediterranean Federation of Para Badminton, is leading the delegation in Thailand.
The Egyptian team won a total of 8 medals, including one gold and seven bronzes, in the first edition of the Egyptian International Para Badminton Championship, which recently took place in Egypt. Yasmina Issa secured Egypt’s only gold medal after defeating Ukraine’s Nina Kozlova 2-0 in the women’s singles event in the SH6 classification.
It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, under the leadership of Dr. Hossam El-Din Mustafa, pays great attention to disabled sports in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and sports federations, which prioritize Paralympic activities on their agenda.
The Egyptian Paralympic Committee aims to qualify the largest number of athletes in various sports and achieve the best results during the participation in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
