Dr. Hossam Eldin Mustafa, EPC President, who attended the finals of the Boccia African Championship, congratulated the Egyptian Boccia duo, Hanaa Allam and Mahmoud Nabawy after being able to snatch the gold medal in the Boccia African Championship that is taking place at Hassan Mustafa Complex, Cairo. “It is an unprecedented achievement as it is the first time for an Egyptian Boccia double team to win a gold medal in any competition. Our champions are writing new history and I hope that we can see such achievements in all Paralympic Sports.”
On the other hand, the African Boccia Championship that is considered the first one to be organized by the Egyptian Cerebral Palsy Federation headed by Dr. Ahmed Adam took place from 2-7 July 2023.
The Egyptian national team was able to grab 6 different medals as Samir Abdel Moaz was able to snatch the first gold medal together with teammate Tasneem Mohamed in the individuals. In addition to that, Hanaa Allam collected the third gold medal while Abdel Rahman Saad snatched the only silver medal for Egypt in the championship. Egypt also won the gold medal in the doubles and the bronze medals in the teams.
Dr. Ahmed Adam commented on the Egyptian team achievements saying,” I am very proud of the Egyptian team as they were able to book an early ticket to 2024 Paris Paralympics for the first time in the history of Egypt. I am also honored by the great performance of the athletes that was far better than previous participations.”
