Yasmina Issa, the Egyptian national Para-Badminton team player, won the gold medal in Canada International Championship held in Ottawa from June 14 to 18.
Yasmina, along with the American player Jackie Simon, secured the gold medal in the women’s doubles competition.
The Egyptian-American duo defeated the Taiwan pair with a score of 2-1, “18-21, 21-19, 21-11” in the finals.
The Egyptian-American pair started their journey in the championship by defeating the Polish pair 2-1, also won against the French-Canadian pair with a score of 2-0, before winning against the Taiwan pair 2-1.
Meanwhile, her teammate Shaimaa Sami bid farewell to the singles competition in the quarterfinals after losing to the Turkish player Imani Sekin.
The tournament is part of the International Badminton Federation’s agenda, and the winners earn points in the race to qualify for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Last April, Yasmina also won the gold medal in the women’s doubles category at the Brazil International Championship, partnering with an American player.
