The Egyptian Wheelchair basketball national team back to the international scene after a 24-year absence

The Egyptian Wheelchair basketball team is going to enter a closed camp at Hassan Mustafa Complex in 6th of October this week as a preparation for the 2022 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships originally scheduled for 16 – 27 November 2022, but have been postponed until 9 – 20 June 2023.  Egypt falls in Group B competing with Germany, Canada, and Thailand.

Hosts United Arab Emirates will welcome over 300 international wheelchair basketball players representing 16 men’s and 12 women’s teams to compete over twelve days of competition at the showcase event.

The Egyptian national team comprises of 17 players: Mahmoud Sabry, Samy Mansour, Ahmed Mohamed, Ahmed Fathy, Mohamed Farag, Magdy Talaat,Toba Nagdy,Al Hassan Yasser, Mohamed Anwar,Ziad Abdel Rehim, Youssef Said, Mustafa Mohamed,Yaseen Kamal,and Mustafa El Sebaai. The technical team is headed by Adel Sherif as technical manager, Gamal Gad and Said El Badri as coaches and Mohamed Rashad as an administrator.

After a 24-year absence, the Egyptian Wheelchair basketball national team was able to qualify to the World Cup to take place in United Arab Emirates after winning the first place in the African Wheelchair Championship that was held in Ethiopia 2022.

The Egyptian Paralympic Committee by Dr.Hosssam Eldin Mustafa has also imported17 wheelchairs up to date from England to  help the team succeed in their mission and try to snatch a medal.
