Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa Expresses Gratitude to Minister of Youth and Sports and Amputee Football Committee for Efforts in the African Cup of Nations

Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, President of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, has lauded the exceptional efforts of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, in orchestrating a distinguished Amputee African Cup of Nations (AAFCON). The tournament, hosted in Egypt, has been meticulously organized to uphold the nation’s prestigious reputation for hosting major sporting events.

Dr. Mostafa expressed his satisfaction with the successful opening ceremony of the championship, held on Saturday at Al Salam Stadium under the auspices of Minister Ashraf Sobhi. He highlighted the positive feedback received from various delegations participating in the event, which is scheduled from May 18 to May 27.

In his address, Dr. Mostafa emphasized the significant contributions of the Amputee Football Committee, chaired by Mr. Mohamed Adel Hosni, in ensuring the tournament’s success. He underscored the extensive cooperation among all stakeholders and partners, which is pivotal for the seamless execution of this crucial event that serves as a qualifier for the Amputee Football World Cup.

Dr. Mostafa further elaborated that the collaboration between the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Amputee Football Committee signifies a strategic milestone towards establishing the Egyptian Federation of Amputee Football in the near future.

The seventh edition of the AAFCON commenced on Saturday with an impressive inauguration at Al Salam Stadium. The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Amr El-Haddad, Head of the Central Administration for Sports Development, representing Minister Sobhi; Mr. Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, General Director of the Central Administration for Specialized Federations Programs at the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Dr. Ashraf El-Ogeili, Board Member of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, representing Dr. Mostafa; Eng. Amr El-Sadiq, Executive Director of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee; Mr. Mohamed Adel Hosni, Chairman of the Amputee Football Committee; George Schlachtenberg, President of the International Amputee Football Committee; Lionel Pinto, Chairman of the Amputee Committee of the African Football Confederation; and Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee in the Egyptian Parliament.

The tournament, running from May 18 to May 27, promises to be a celebration of resilience and athletic prowess, highlighting the extraordinary capabilities of amputee footballers from across the African continent.
