Dr. Hossam Eldin Mustafa, the Egyptian Paralympic Committee President has received the Egyptian Para Powerlifting delegation after coming victorious from the World Para Powerlifting Championship in Dubai. Egypt was able to rank in 5th place with a total of 5 medals; 1gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.
He congratulated them on their performance and asked them to exert more effort in the coming period to be able to qualify to the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
In total, the Egyptian team won 24 medals in the championship, distributed as follows:
9 medals, including “5 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze medals” in the different weight categories, which were officially recognized. Additionally, they won 4 bronze medals in the overall category.
At the junior level, the youth team won 8 diverse medals, including “4 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal”, along with “4 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal” in the overall category.
In the Elite level, Egypt grabbed 7 medals, including “4 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal”.
Islam Mangy won gold and silver medals in the 80kg weight category, while Marwan Ahmed won two gold medals in the 107kg weight category. Rihab Radwan won the gold medal in the 55kg weight category, and Fatma Mahrous won the silver medal in the 61kg weight category.
Nadia Fekry won the silver medal in the over 86kg weight category. Hadi Samuel won two silver medals in the 49kg weight category, while Mohamed Fathi won two bronze medals in the 49kg weight category. Mohamed El Menyawy won two bronze medals in the 59kg weight category, and Mohamed Sabry won one bronze medal in the over 88kg weight category.
Taha Adel won one bronze medal in the 54kg weight category, and Amima Omar won one bronze medal. Randa Taj El-Din won the bronze medal in the 86kg weight category.
The Egyptian national Para Powerlifting team participated in the championship with 19 players, including Omaima Omar (50kg), Rihab Radwan (55kg), Fatma Mahrous (61kg), Safaa Hassan (73kg), Amal Mahmoud Hanafy (79kg), Randa Taj El Din (86kg), Nadia Fekry (+86kg), and Amani El Desouki (+86kg).
And 7 male players: Taha Adel (54kg), Sherif Othman (59kg), Mohamed Saad El Menyawy (59kg), Shaban El Desouki (72kg), Mahmoud Sabry (72kg), Mohamed Sobhy (88kg), and Hani Mohsen (97kg).
In addition to 4 junior players: Mohamed Fathi (49kg), Hadi Samuel (49kg), Islam Mangy (80kg), and Marwan Ahmed Mustafa (+107kg).
The Egyptian delegation to the World Championship is headed by Emad Ramadan, the Treasurer of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee. The coaching staff of the national team includes Abd El-Monem Salah as the Senior National Team Head Coach, Hani Mahmoud as the General Coach for the Senior National Team, Mohamed Ezzat as the Junior National Team Head Coach, and Emad El-Din Bahgat as the Coach and Acting Administrator.
