The Egyptian Para Powerlifting national team was able to grab eight medals at the first day of competitions of the World Para Powerlifting Championship: 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze. Islam Mongy was able to snatch the gold medal of the 80kg weight category and the silver of the total to raise the total of medals of the Egyptian delegation to eight medals. Marawan Ahmed snatched two gold in the over 107kg weight category, Hadi Samuel two silver in the 49kg weight category and Mohamed Fathi, 2 bronze medals, in the same weight category.
In addition to that, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sport has called the Egyptian Para Powerlifting delegation in Dubai to congratulate them on their great achievement on the first day of the competitions saying,” I am very proud of you champions. You are superior and I am waiting for more medals and new world records. I am supporting you all through the way to Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.”
