The Egyptian Para table tennis delegation arrived at Cairo Airport yesterday after grabbing 27 different medals at the Jordan International Para table tennis championship that took place from 1-3 June 2023. The 27 medals were 7 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze.
The championship was a chance for the Egyptian Para table tennis team to get in contact with a number of international teams and gain experience. It is also considered an important station in their preparation plan for 2024 Paris Paralympics.
118 Para athletes representing 18 countries competed in the three day event. They are Algeria, Cote d’ Ivoire , Canada, Egypt, Cyprus, France, UK, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordon (the host),South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Netherlands, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Greece.
The Egyptian Para table tennis delegation was headed by Essam Zidan, Egyptian Tennis Federation board member and the one in charge of the Para table tennis activity in addition to coach Gamal Zeinhom, the technical manager of the women’s national team. The men’s national teams comprised of Ahmed Sabr, Sameh Mohamed, Hasan Hanfy, Ibrahim Hamadtou,Ssayed Mohamed, Khaled Abdel Salam, Hossam Hosny, Abdel Rahaman Abdel Wahab and Mohamed Rafaat. The women’s national team consisted of Faiza Mahmoud, Hanaa Ahmed,Samah Abdel Aziz,Lamiaa Mohamed,Hagar Ibrahim and Fawzia Ghamry
