The Egyptian Para Athletics national team has returned after achieving 11 diverse medals in the Para Athletics Grand Prix Championship held in Italy.
An official delegation led by Mr Emad Ramadan, the EPC treasurer, and Mohamed Issa, the team’s technical director, received the national team upon its arrival at Cairo International Airport.
Dr. Shaban El Khatib, EPC board member and head of the delegation, confirmed that the team achieved several accomplishments in the championship, with six players qualifying for the upcoming World Championship, which serves as a qualification station for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
He added that Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, the Minister of Youth and Sports, was in constant communication with the players, congratulating them on their achievements, in addition to the continuous follow-up of the EPC, headed by Dr. Hossam El Din Mustafa, and his continuous calls have been a motivation for the players to achieve different medals.”
The Egyptian national team collected 11 different medals: 5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze
The gold medals were snatched by Mohamed Kamal in the discus throw, Ibrahim Badr in the javelin throw, Karim Mahmoud in the 200-meter race, Abdel Aziz Hashem in the 100-meter running. Silver Medals were collected by Ibrahim Badr in the discus throw and Abdel Rahman Youssef (2).
The four bronze medals came throw Abdel Rahman Youssef, Ahmed Shaib(2) and Gomaa Abdel Hamid
