The Egyptian Paralympic Committee announces Dr. Nabil Salem’s Athletic Excellence Award in Paralympic Sports

The EPC headed by Dr, Hossam Eldin Mostafa decided launching a yearly award under the name of Dr. Nabil Salem for Athletic Excellence in Paralympic Sports including male and female Para athletes; in addition to Paralympic teams and organizations which are talented in a certain field, and their achievement is considered a contribution that helps the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the society through practicing Para sports.

The award was named after Dr. Nabil Salem’s name due to his being a pioneer in the field of Paralympic Sports as he headed the Egyptian Paralympic committee for over 20 years. Salem was also the former Vice President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in addition to heading the African Paralympic Committee, and acted as a board member of the IPC and a number of international Paralympic federations.

Dr. Nabil Salem is an orthopedist and physiotherapist who played a great role in the development and the escalation of Paralympic Sports internationally and nationally as well. He was awarded the Order of Merit for his achievement in the Paralympic

field.

 

Award Nomination Dates:

Starting today till 30th July 2023 and the awards will be announced in a big festival during December on occasion of the International Paralympic Day

Award Nomination Rules:

1)    The candidate has to have achievements on the international level in Paralympic Sports

2)    The Organsiation or the Authority should have played a role in inclusion of persons with disabilities.

3)     Certified documents should be handed on request.

4)    Members of Jury should not be participate in the award as candidates

1)    Best Male Para athlete

2)    Best Female Para athlete

3)    Best Technical Manager or Coach

4)    Best Official

5)    Best Club or Sports Organization

6)    Best Olympic or Paralympic Federation

Best Public Figure with notable contribution to the Paralympic movement

Dr. Hossam Eldin Mostafa, EPC President has made it clear that the idea of the award is one of the innovative ideas that the committee is working  on executing in the coming period as a recognition of the Paralympic famil and their achievements on and off the field. He also added that a board of trustees for the award is in process as it is a completely independent entity that has the full freedom in its choices and decisions and works with transparency and impartiality.
