The Egyptian football national team for dwarfs flew to Morocco to participate in the Afro-Asian championship to take place coming May.
The tournament includes teams representing Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan, and Ivory Coast. It is also considered a preparation station before the first-ever Football World Cup for Dwarfs in Argentina later this year.
Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, the Egyptian Paralympic Committee (EPC) president, confirmed that the committee has a special interest in football competitions for dwarfs in Egypt. It also supports this team to continue competing in continental and international championships.
Ali Shaban, head of the Dwarf Committee at the EPC, thanked Egypt’s leadership for giving the dwarf project a chance to succeed both on the national and international levels in addition to the support of both the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Paralympic Committee.
Shabaan also expressed his appreciation after his meeting with Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa,EPC President, Emad Ramadan, EPC treasurer, Amal Mobada, EPC board member and Dr. Howeida Mondy, EPC Executive Director, where he received all the support needed for the dwarf sports activities as the EPC is keen on increasing the number of dwarfs practicing sports.
He also thanked the Paralympic Committee for providing a suitable environment for the players to complete the Egyptian league next week in Alexandria, with the league’s final to take place in Sharm El-Sheikh next month.
