Karim Mahmoud, a member of the Egyotian national Para Athletics team, was able to grab the silver medal in the T44 100m race at the World Championships held in Paris. As a result, he has qualified for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
The top four finishers in each race for each medical classification qualify for the Paralympic Games.
The Egyptian National Para Athletics team is participating in the championship which takes with a delegation of six athletes: Ibrahim Badr Mohamed in the F56 discus throw, Gamal Mohamed Abdel Hamid in the F56 discus throw, Mohamed Mohamed Kamal in the F37 discus throw, Karim Mahmoud Abdel Tawab in the T44 100m race, Abdel Rahman Youssef in the T46 100m race and long jump, and Abdel Aziz Hashem in the T47 100m race and 400m race.
The athletes are accompanied by the coaching staff consisting of Ahmed Khairy, Yasser Fathy, and Osama Fouad, and the delegation is led by Dr. Ashraf El-Agail, a member of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee’s board of directors.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy,Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports ,congratulated the player for his achievement through a phone call and declared his support to the entire delegation asking them to exert their utmost effort to collect more medals.
On the other hand, Dr. Hossam Eldin,EPC President, congratulated Mahmoud for his medal and hoped that his colleagues will be able to add more medals and snatch more qualification slots in the future.
