The Egyptian Para Powerlifting team was able to snatch two gold medals in the juniors over 107kg through Marawan Ahmed who was able to lift 161 kg to crush all his other opponents and collect two gold medals one for the lift and the other for the total. Commenting on the two gold medals, captain Mohamed Ezzat, the Egyptian Para Powerlifting technical manager said,” Marawan Ahmed was able to challenge himself to lift that heavy weight and make the day of the whole Egyptian delegation raising the lot of Egypt to 6 medals at the first day of the competitions.”
On the other hand, Emad Ramadan, Egyptian Paralympic Committee treasurer and head of the delegation went on to say,” I am very proud of the Egyptian national PARA Powerlifting team juniors. They were acting manly and up to the challenge doing their utmost to snatch the medals among a strong competition from powerlifters representing 13 countries.The national team comprises of 19 powerlifters; eight women,7 men and 4 juniors.
